Founded in 2013 in Raleigh, NC, Carolina Nonsurgical Orthopedics' mission is to provide the latest in nonsurgical orthopedic, sports medicine, and biologic treatments to help patients suffering from arthritis, joint pain, and sports injuries find relief without surgery. We only offer treatments we can provide studies to support, and will always provide science-based recommendations.
We have performed over 50,000 procedures at our clinic since 2013.

Dr. Pierce Knox
Penn Medicine-Trained Nonsurgical Orthopedic Physician
LOCATIONS: Raleigh & Cary Locations
SPECIALTY: All Joints (except spine), Orthobiologics (PRP/Stem Cell)
Dr. Knox attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Nonsurgical Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn Medicine). During his Sports Medicine training, Dr. Knox served as an assistant team physician for University of Delaware football, baseball, and lacrosse and served as the team physician for Interboro High School. He also worked with the Philadelphia Union soccer team. Dr. Knox specializes in non-operative orthopedics and regenerative medicine. He focuses on ultrasound-guided procedures, orthobiologic therapies such as PRP, MFAT, and evidence-based treatments of musculoskeletal injuries in active adults and athletes.


Dr. Matthew Kanaan
Duke-Trained Nonsurgical Orthopedic Physician

Dr. Kanaan is the Founder and Medical Director of Carolina Nonsurgical Orthopedics. He completed his residency and nonsurgical sports medicine fellowship at Duke Medical Center/ Duke Sports Medicine in 2013 and has been serving patients in the Triangle ever since. He is passionate about helping patients return to the activities they enjoy by using cutting-edge, nonsurgical orthopedic treatments and regenerative medicine treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and cell therapy.


Maggie McLaughlin, PA-C
Physician Associate- Certified
LOCATIONS: Raleigh & Cary Locations
SPECIALTY: Shockwave Therapy, Hair Restoration Expert
As a highly experienced certified Physician Assistant, Maggie has previously worked in orthopedic surgery and emergency medicine. After being a collegiate athlete and experiencing an injury herself, she knew she wanted to help others in the same way her orthopedic provider did for her. She obtained her degree at Campbell University and shortly afterwards started her career in orthopedics. Maggie has extensive experience with many orthopedic conditions and in office procedures such as Shockwave Treatment over the past 8 years. Maggie also performs all of our regenerative hair restoration procedures at our internal PRP CENTER FOR HAIR RESTORATION.

Kelsey
Certified Medical Assistant
Kelsey is an integral member of the clinical team at Carolina Nonsurgical Orthopedics. With extensive experience in orthopedic care, she is known for her compassionate, attentive approach and is beloved by patients for her warm, friendly bedside manner. Kelsey also serves as the phlebotomist for PRP procedures and the practice's X-ray technician, helping ensure each patient receives exceptional, efficient care from diagnosis through treatment.

Ashley
Certified Medical Assistant
Ashley is a dedicated healthcare professional with extensive experience serving patients and supporting clinical teams. She is passionate about delivering positive, patient‑centered care and values building meaningful connections that help individuals feel comfortable, supported, and heard throughout their visit. Known for her friendly demeanor and encouraging presence, Ashley brings a welcoming energy to Carolina Nonsurgical Orthopedics.

Valerie
Cary Office Manager & Patient Care Coordinator
Valerie is dedicated to ensuring patients receive a warm welcome to our practice by providing a seamless scheduling process, and by answering all patients' questions prior to treatment. She is usually the first staff member patients connect with at our practice (whether on the phone or at the front desk), and is a phenomenal resource and advocate for our patients.

Samantha
Operations Manager & Patient Care Coordinator
Samantha is one of the friendly faces behind the front desk at our practice. She truly enjoys her job and loves helping others, always approaching each task with a positive attitude. Whether she’s assisting patients, managing appointments, or keeping things organized behind the scenes, Samantha is dedicated to making each patient’s experience as smooth and welcoming as possible. She takes pride in creating a caring environment where patients feel valued and supported from start to finish.

Communications Manager
